Color Therapy: Swimming Pool Color Scheme

Greetings!

When I think about swimming pool, I always think of freshness of summer and coziness of laying under the sun at the side of the pool, reading a favorite book. And this time, this swimming pool in one of the apartment in Jakarta, is my source of inspiration for Color Therapy session today.

Let's talk about the colors!

Taupe

Taupe is one of the brown color family. It needs more brown and a little bit grey to make a Taupe. Taupe reminds us about earthy feelings and cooling down. It neutralize all the bad emotions and going into a deeper thinking. Sometimes the Taupe relates to one of Zen's colors that can bring a relaxation ambiance.

Walnut

Walnut color brings the sweetness of life and pleasure. The color also brings a security and responsibility into a family and friendship. This color serves a comfort, like home, with delicious foods, but keep it in a simple way but in a warm greetings. Sometimes walnut color relates to chocolate color that turns down the nerves inside of a stressful day.

Blue Sky

Reminds us of gratitude and wisdom that life can give. Blue sky can brings us honesty and trust. And blue sky can reduce stress because blue sky relates to a peaceful mind that blue sky can give. Like if we look up to the sky, blue sky can make you feel so relax and safe.

Aquamarine

Aquamarine is more white of the blue. Reminds us of the shallow sea water, brings us a peaceful and tranquil ambiance, but fun in the same time. Sometimes this color and its shades used in a beach cottage to let us stay in comfort and quiet ambiance, to let the freedom fill the soul.

Enjoy My Book Club: Les Milliards d'Arsène Lupin by Maurice Leblanc

Greetings!

The story of Arsène Lupin is one of my favorite detective story besides Sherlock Holmes. Created by the genius, Maurice Leblanc. Originally posted in a serial in French newspaper.

Arsène Lupin actually a thief, a clever thief that always helps poor people. He is one of the greatest fiction character in Europe at that time, besides Sherlock Holmes. It's so different between the character of Arsène Lupin and Sherlock Holmes. Arsene Lupin always portrayed as a dandy man, a French aristocrat, who always deals with the police but have a gentle heart. While Sherlock always portrayed as a genius and a little bit serious man, loves to wear outfit in his style, and he's a detective.

What I love about this book is how Arsène Lupin sacrifice his life to help a woman named Patricia Johnston from New York to runaway from a cold blooded killer because she knows too much about a murder in one night in New York that involved her bosses. Not only that, Patricia also knows so deep about the organization Maffia that leads to death of some important people in the world's business.

It's really amazing to read how Maurice Leblanc's story of Arsène Lupin. How he described the France's situation at that time and sometimes you can imagine how beautiful France at that time. I love reading a detailed books full of imagination.

Midweek Projects: Office for Two

Greetings!

I found myself drowning in inspiration of making a new design for House of Smichi's office. It all began when I was watching Mr. Kate's channel here. 

And then I was inspired to design a new office style for two, me and my partner.

Actually I run House of Smichi with my partner. But since he's the one with arranging the company from somewhere doesn't near the office, so I run House of Smichi alone. But it doesn't close the opportunity he will join here anytime soon.

And here is the design of the new House of Smichi's office. Separated with a glassboard divider, I made two areas. One for working area, one for meeting area with clients and brainstorming with our team.

In the working area, there are two desks that's separated by a big materials shelf in the middle. I made the design as comfort and cozy as I can so we can enjoy our most of the times here doing some interior projects.

And in the meeting area, we use a glassboard as a whiteboard to write something or draw something when are having meetings, either with the clients or brainstorming between the team. It attached in a ex-wooden pallet divider to separate the working area and meeting area.

I use the communal table when handle a meeting to add more spaces if we have meeting with the team. And we love to use a metal chair to add modern touch in the design.

Style It Tuesday: Off to the Local Market!

Greetings!

This morning I went a walk into a local market near my house to buy some groceries, especially vegetables and fruits.

Since it's just went off to the market and nothing special about it, I wore a casual outfit and my favorite tote bag, one for my wallet, umbrella, etc., and the bigger one for bringing the groceries to reduce the use of plastic bag.

Most of the items match with the set I created in Polyvore. T-shirt, denim pants, crossbody tote bag, tote bag for groceries, earrings, and the Ipanema flops. You can check out Style It Tuesday's set on my Polyvore account.

Color Therapy: Afternoon Sky Color Scheme

Greetings!

Colors of the day is a view which I took from some times ago when the sky looked sooo beautiful in orange and purple combination.

Now let's talk about the colors!

Tangerine

First we have Tangerine color that sometimes this color related to Autumn color scheme because it reminds us about the pumpkin's color shades. Tangerine is basically washed orange color which brings cheerfulness and coziness at the same time. Tangerine color always reminds us about the falling leaves during Autumn, beautiful and amazing.

Black

Black represents the silhouette of the houses in the picture. Black can make everything so calm but depressed if you use too much black because it gives you dark mood and creepy feelings. Black also represents the power and control because when there is Black, it usually makes every bright colors surround it becoming darker.

Mauve

Mauve is one of the purple colors family. It has more blue and a bit red in combination. This color represents a mysterious ambiance. It's a good color for daydreaming and give emotional feelings for the user. The color is also allowing us to get a deeper thoughts and get some introspective from the inside of our soul.

Grape

Grape color is more red than blue in purple shades. Like a grape fruit, this color can give us the sweetness and good memories that we experience so far. It also reminds us about gratitude for all what we have. Grape color is rather happier than any purple colors because its joyful feelings about our life now.

It's good to have a FUN Thursday again on House of Smichi. I have finished my book for this week, a very nice book about how to run a Blog properly and knowledge that I didn't know before about running a Blog.

I love how Joy Cho write the book and make it easily to read for a lack-of-English person like me. She used simple words that anyone can understand easily. Most important things is she added some bloggers' experience so the book contains not only the author's view only.

This book also gives the readers about how to create a community from the Blog. Either you are a passionate baker, cool fashion blogger, or trusted seller of DIY stuffs, reading this book can help you grow more. I learn from this book too.

For anyone who needs more knowledge about running a Blog, this is a recommended book for you to read.

Enjoy My Book Club: Trik Juara Mengatur Waktu by Zivanna Letisha

Greetings!

First time I found this book, I didn't know that from the first page to the very last page are really inspiring. It is an Indonesian book version from a lovely Indonesian author, Zivanna Letisha.

This book contains some useful knowledge about time. Introduction about time, types of time that we can experience, and about how to manage your time at weekdays and weekend. I love this book because the author not only write based on encouragement she wants to give to the readers, but also by the need of managing times that she shared also in the book. So the book become more interesting.

Zizi (nickname for Zivanna Letisha) also arrange the book so well organized, from the beginning of the basic knowledge about time, up to tips and tricks to use the times well. So, we can easily read it and try to applied one of the tips. Trust me, the tips and tricks are so useful! I hope foreign readers also can read this one to if there's an English version of the book because it published in Bahasa Indonesia only.

Like most of you, I also have a hard deal with time everyday. We only have 24 hours, but we have a loads to do list to be done everyday. Sometimes I have 20 something to-do-list to be done everyday, from daily house cleaning, cooking, take a break, and especially working. Sometimes, I am easily bored and don't want to deal with time at some time. It's because I take care the time in a wrong way.

By reading this book, my knowledge about time is increasing and I hope with lots of learning, I become a better person who manage my times well. Well, for my Indonesian fellows, you can buy this book and read this to improve your life. Midweek Projects: Clean & Cozy For Hangout

Greetings!

It's been Wednesday already and we have a request to design a clean and cozy place for hangout. So here's the design.

It's a Scandinavian style inspired cafe basically. Dominantly colored in white with grey and wooden texture accent in some part of the room. Most of the room is filled with wooden table top on brushed iron frame. The area is not big enough so we have to maximize the use of the room but still look light and not too crowded.

We still keep the bar area to make more seating area. This place is for everyone, although you want to hangout with some friends or just want to spend your time alone. This place is designed for you to be cozy and feel lighter.

If it's rainy day, there's a spot for you to put your umbrella and let it dry until you are ready to out of the cafe. And there's a newspaper and magazines stack that we put on a piece of iron everytime you need an update information about the world at the entrance.

We separate the customers' area and the employees' area with a door. We put a different color to make people notice about the changing room that not anyone can enter the area.

Style It Tuesday: Rainy Day Tuesday

Greetings!

It's raining all day here in our hometown since two days ago. But the gloomy sky and the rain won't stop us from being stylish in this rainy day.

I am so in the mood of casual. I choose to wear my old dress, paired it with legging pants. And not forget to wear my cardigan since it's a bit cold because the sun is too shy to show its face today. And never forget to bring my umbrella. A nice one that I found in the market earlier this year.
