Weekend Projects: Appliances Setting and Coffee Training

I am still maintain my work at Azra Hospital in Bogor this January up to the opening in February. Make sure everything's set and proper for the opening.

Well, yesterday was my duty to accompany my client to set up all the appliances at the coffee kiosk. It was a fun day to know everything better and maintain new friendship, also got new experience and knowledge about coffee.

I am basically not a coffee person, but I have a huge interest on coffee things. Flavor, taste, and how to make a good one are challenging on coffee knowledge. All you need to know basically some theory that you have to swallow, but to make the best coffee, you have to do some trials and errors until you want to throw up the coffee.

Some coffee experts (read: baristas) from Labirin Coffee were coming to the place yesterday and told us many, many useful information about coffee making and coffee machine installment. Well, they are related to the coffee machine distributor so they were giving us coffee training on Saturday afternoon.

The thing is, when your project is done and the client love it so much, you will feel like grateful and so thankful that everything went well while in progress. Because what you designed on 3D illustration is becoming in real shape and form. It's like my own satisfaction.

Weekend Projects: Christmas in Your Bedroom

Greetings!

Christmas is around the corner! Yeay! How's your Christmas decor going up?

Well, some of you might not have an enough space to put many decors. Maybe you just have a studio apartment of your own and you still want to make it a Christmas-y ambiance. So, here's my suggestions for you, prepare Christmas tree that suits your room well, a garland, and wreath. You can add Christmas socks if you like.

You can utilize your wall for the decorations. But make sure everything is on its size that fits your space.

And one more thing, don't be afraid to try darker and rare color to fill your space. Either it's for the floor or the wall paint or wallcovering. Make sure you choose one of the interior parts that I mention before to make your space looks nice and fresh for the next year. You can add a quirky wallcovering pattern like, tropical theme or cartoon as long as it fits your dominant color in the room.

And don't forget to always give another part a neutral color in white or light grey if you put dark colors. Just to make it a little bit lighter, not too heavy because of darker color overdose.

Weekend Projects: Opening Soon Part 4

This week finally we've finished most of the part of the on going project in Azra Hospital in Bogor.

✓ Mosaic tiles set and ready to be filled with grout.

✓ Wooden pallet is ready for coating.

✓ Concrete table is also ready for coating.

✓ Controlling the canopy performance in rainy day.

Next step is set all the iron works. What will it be like? We'll share it soon.

Weekend Projects: Coming Soon Projects

Greetings! 💕

Lately I've been doing my latest projects for commercial space for my dearest friend. It's still on the progress and will be done soon. As soon as it finished, I will share with all of you for the result.

This time I have to make everything from zero. The client prepared only for outdoor location that can be designed beautifully. But since it's a public space full of sick people (read: hospital), we have to extra careful for all the elements we choose to build this. Plus safety for the workers is a must.

We combine four elements of materials: 👉concrete, 👉iron, 👉ceramic, and 👉wood in a Scandinavian style mixed with Industrial concept. The main concept is to make the place clean but also warm by the presents of the materials. Well, how's the result? Let's see it soon! We promise you it's something that will enjoy your eyes and of course will be fun.

Weekend Projects: Inspired by the Autumn

Greetings!

Sometimes surrounding nature can be our inspiration to create something. This time, autumn has been our biggest inspiration in designing interior. It contains so many beautiful orange-ish colors and some earth colors like beige, taupe, and even grey.

I paint the wall in grey. Basically I choose to applied the Scandinavian style since it fits in a small room because of its simplicity yet interesting components in the room. I choose to mix the grey, black & white composition, and Autumn colors as the accent to make the room warmer but still being reminded of Autumn.

In this living room I also put a tall book shelf to collect all the favorite books together and read them in a comfy L-shaped sofa. This sofa is only made for two because of the limited space. But you don't have to worry about the design of your sofa, there are many other options of sofas you can explore. You can put your classic sofa or a modern one, fabric covered or leather covered sofa in the room. 

To make more easy to read in the room, I put a table lamp on a end table between sofa and the book shelf. It gives more lights to read the book. And there's a Cinnamon aromatic candle besides the lamp so it can give a nice and cozy feelings filling the room.

I still put a coffee table in front of the sofa to put a cup of warm tea and some snacks while relaxing on the sofa. I make this room a special place to hideaway from outside world and drowning in books. Sometimes a me time alone is needed when there are too many things surround.

Weekend Projects: Dreamy Place for Daydreaming

Greetings!

Sometimes most of us need a place, a hidden place, where we can put energy and our thoughts together. It can be anywhere in your home or your office. Make a good and comfort one can increase your productivity in work and even in life. Because everybody needs special time to stay away from outside matters.

Moroccan style has been our concern to make a comfort and special place to hide away. It can give you a dreamy place and serenity to keep you in peace. Moroccan style as a hideaway place can  be perfect with big sofa, pouffe to rest our feet, lanterns, and even the garden style of water fountain also can be inspired to make a perfect one.

This time we use blue color to fill the area. Blue defines a good energy surround us and giving calmness into your soul. Put some soothing music on and you are ready to be on your own. We put a pond surround the sofa area to make a soothing sound of the falling water from the fountain at the side of the sofa. Books also give you inspiration to improving yourself with good things. Or if you don't like reading that much, you can fill the shelf with all the good memory things.

Big window also good for your health. Because a warm and soft sunlight can in to your room and fill it with joy. Natural light can reduce the electricity use in the room, so you can save more from your bills.

Create a peaceful space is important especially if you are so confused about life's matters and need to think about everything only on your own. This hideaway place also can be your place to hangout and have chit chat with some good friends of yours.

Weekend Projects: Cold Cafe to Cool Down

Today we're gonna play a little bit colorless or in the other words is monochromatic.

A cold ambiance bar sometimes needed when hot days attack. Whenever you need a cup of coffee in the middle of the day, you also need a cool color space to cooling down the heat. In this small cafe, we have to use bright color to make it more mild and easy, but also make it more simple when the things they need fill the small room. The lighter color brings light mood and coziness.

And while we're playing with the honeycomb shape for the tiles and mirror as the point of view of this cafe, we also add wooden color to make the room a bit warmer and not too cold.

Weekend Projects: Small Scandinavian Kitchen

Greetings!

A clean kitchen is a must for health and the joy while cooking. So sometimes although some people have small space for kitchen, they always be reminded to have many compartments and storage to keep all the similar kitchen stuffs together and tidy.

We designed a small kitchen into a Scandinavian look with monochrome colors and red as the accent on the refrigerator and the rug at the small dining area. Because sometimes the room needs a contrast color to make it more fun. With more shelves to put the greenery inside the room and put all the jars together.

Weekend Projects: Walk In Closet for Her and Him

Greetings!

Have you ever wonder how to separate his clothes from her clothes? Well, somebody needs us to revamp their walk in closet and here we go like this.

For her:

For him:

They want to separate each other's clothes but still in one unity.

While for her is a little bit need more spaces for this and that with all of her various types of clothes, for him, just as simple as hanging or folded.

But their personal area is combined with a bench that has shoes rack for her and for him. This bench is functioned as a place to think what clothes they're going to wear that day (well, maybe. :D) and a seat to wear shoes, or just as a cozy spot to relax.

Weekend Projects: Industrial Kitchen

Greetings!

Somebody asks us to explore more of the Industrial concept and we accepted the challenge. She asks us to design her kitchen. It's a small kitchen in I line layout and open space into the dining area. So, here's our design! Enjoy!

We use stainless steel plates for the lower cabinet's doors to make a different impression and make the kitchen more masculine. For the back splash wall, we use a dark marble with a little bit brown and white colors in the pattern. We also represent the masculine side by using the dark charcoal color for the upper cabinet's doors. And for the improvisation, we create doors with wire for the upper cabinet's doors. For the handle, we use the copper plates to make a different sense and color to the kitchen. Of course, to balance all the materials and colors, we choose hanging shelves made of wood plank.

Weekend Projects: When Dark Meets Bronze Kitchen

Greetings!

Here we are with today's Weekend Projects on House of Smichi.

Today we are sharing with you our latest work in interior design: kitchen design. The owner loves to expose the existing material, red bricks, and he loves something shiny and reflective materials like bronze, to be combined with darker color, like charcoal grey.

So we made an Industrial style concept to meet the owner's likes and what he needs. Dark colors, grey, meets bronze to balance the shiny and reflective material to make it a little bit luxurious look.

As the aesthetic aspect of the room, we decided to play with some woods. The old wood look as the kitchen hanging shelves as his seasoning jars storage, and some recycle wooden crate to make a book shelf for his collection.

Since the owner don't have much spaces and he loves cooking that much, we designed the kitchen big enough to prepare the foods with enough natural lighting and big windows as the representation of Industrial concept, besides the bricks exposed.

And he loves to spend his times at the kitchen, working on things, reading books, and even hangout with some friends at home. Or just enjoying the garden view at the backyard of his house from the simple and small dining area with big windows.

And we really love the mason jar lamp to be placed at the top of the dining area. The lamps give the area a lighter space at night and while reading books that he loves.

Weekend Projects: Cook in Style in Your Kitchen

It's been a while since our last post of Weekend Projects. Now, we are back again with another design review originally made by House of Smichi. Enjoy!

Mirror at the door of your kitchen cabinet? Why not! So you can cook in style to make delicious foods and creating a good vibes around the area.
The hanging shelves made to make a contrast for small kitchen so the space won't be too much doors and closed cabinets.
The ice glass at the top cabinet's doors also made a contrast to the design so it won't be boring with full wooden pattern doors.

Weekend Projects: New York Style Two Bedrooms Apartment

Greetings!
House of Smichi is back this weekend to share with you our latest project. So, let's start with our latest apartment project.

This weekend we have a two bedrooms apartment project in Jakarta, Indonesia. A little information about the owner, she loves books and most important of all, she loves New York. Been living few years in New York when she was younger. So, she wants to bring back the memories she know about the wonderful city.

Well, she has a very wonderful layout for an apartment. Though the apartment is not too big for living, but the layout is very interesting with some cozy spots to enjoy the view of Jakarta city whenever she come home from work at night.

We've designed the living area first to be shared this weekend with you.
The living area is not too wide, but it has a longer area with a big window at the end of the area.

In this living area, she has a tall storage shelf to put nice books and any other office supplies. We designed the lower storage with mirrors so the place can look bigger than it should be. This is one of the trick for a small spaces: more mirrors!

And for the cozy window spot, we designed an area to enjoy the view while working, reading a book, or even just sit and relax. Since the owner loves greenery so much, we put some plants in pots to decorate the area. And one of the trademark of House of Smichi is we always put dramatic lighting in every potential spots. And she loves it!

And put the comfy sofa in front of the TV. It has no armrest at the right end, so she can sit while facing her list of books at the shelf. And this can give more rooms to open the lower storage at the shelf.

New York style is basically combinations of Industrial concept with chic style with a lot of decorations of art, like paintings, photography, and even sculpture. You can also put modern touch of furniture too, not always industrial.

Weekend Projects: Industrial Modern Bedroom Design

Greetings!
It's been a while since our last post. We are back again with this week's Weekend Projects from our latest interior project in Bogor, Indonesia.

The client loves modern sleek style match with Industrial look. Although it seems so contradicting each other, but we finally made one that can put the modern sleek and Industrial style at one place. Enjoy!

Below is the view everytime she open her bedroom door. A glam of the bags and shoes display shelf makes a mood booster for the bedroom owner. We added a little comfy bench at the end of the room so there's a little space to sit down and enjoy the room or just welcoming her friends into the bedroom.

Besides the display shelf is her vanity area. Big size mirror with frontal lighting, an organized shelf for her make up tools and stuffs, nail polishes collection display, and see through jewelry collections.

In front of her bed is the entertainment set cabinet. Where she can enjoy the movie, books, and many photos over here. She asked us to make a world map panel so she can put her photo collections from the travelling around the world.

Nest to her bed is the working desk area with a little scrapbook corner for placing the paper, ribbons organizing, and stuffs like stickers that can be hung at the hook we placed on the wall. The book shelf beside the desk is for her binder filing from work which she set up in rainbow colors.

For the bedside lamp, we make a little Industrial style as we use the Mason Jar lamp that we create on our own. And a little wall decor of black butterflies as the vocal point of the bed area.

Weekend Projects: Scandinavian Kitchen

Greetings!
Welcome back into our Weekend Projects by House of Smichi!

This week we have a request from our dearest client to renovate her house to make it even better. She loves clean, tidy, and bright spaces. So we choose to start from the kitchen because she put it at the front part of her house. Enjoy!

Well, since she loves clean, bright, and tidy, we choose to make her a Scandinavian style house. Basically the style refers to an interior trends in the Scandinavian countries, like Sweden and Finland. The open space and light will make the space be  more inviting and functional.

Our design for the small kitchen is really light and open. we choose to add a little warm wooden color for the flooring. Beside that, we choose all in white. Since she loves to cook so much, we design a bigger space with an island to add extra working spaces. The island also has a function as breakfast table, combines with the lovely Wishbone Chair in pale wooden color.

We make the room fuller and added more storage systems into it. All spices and seasonings are on the storage, so every guest won't see them spreading around the kitchen.

The light and open space also makes us create a bigger windows since she has a beautiful garden outside. It allows the sunshine and gentle breeze to come into the kitchen and make it fresh.

Weekend Projects: Soyokaze Japanese Restaurant

Greetings!
It's been November already. And it's been awhile from our last Weekend Projects post. This time, we share a simple Japanese restaurant design with you.

We are playing Japanese fusion style this time. If you see mostly Japanese designs use wooden texture and light color, in here you'll see the wood only used as the accent in carvings. We are presenting the Japanese style in bamboo and lanterns.

We make a quite dramatic entrance by presents a wall full of accent: mirrors, wood carvings, and murals about the restaurant. As the other side of the wall is bamboo partition. We design the distance between one another bamboo so they will look like natural and not too crowded. In the end of the entrance, you will see the big restaurant 's logo and we called it console table as they can put their menu books on the table.

We covered the wall in some different materials: paint, mirrors, artificial grass, wood carving, mosaic tiles, and food posters. Makes the bigger room look pretty full in a good way. We design a spot lighting from a lantern mix with three mason jars lamp which out from the lantern.

To connect with the other world, we make a big windows made in black colors. We put the noren (a Japanese curtain) as the accent. We also use bamboo as a divider between one table and another.

Weekend Projects: Sand Bag Board (Air Balloon)

Greetings!

Welcome back into our next episode of Weekend Projects by House of Smichi. It's been a while since our last projects.

Interior design is not always about designing for residential or commercial. Interior design is also about making an exhibition. Big or small, designer will make them functional yet beautiful to attract the visitors.

About two weeks earlier, we are busy to make air balloon 3D presentation on PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. in Sukorejo, Eastern Java. And finally we are finished make one. We are so excited to make a small exhibition panel for the company. Almost three days of setting the air balloon in location. But, thank God, all the people love it when they see it.

The way we make is really not as that simple as the picture. It takes few times of trial and error so the air balloon and the sandbag box can work properly.

This air balloon is aimed to represent the work level of the products they are produced in a year. So we make an air balloon and the sandbag box that is working like an elevator.

So the worker has to fill the ideas form from the board. After the ideas done, they put the paper form into the sandbag box.
